  • So yesterday I filled out an application at Rue21. I got a call today saying I have an interview Monday morning. By getting a call for an interview does that mean they want to get to ...show more

  • Answer:

Dear Sergio, I've been on a few interviews, and there are certainly things you can do to prepare. Here are 12 questions they might ask you. http://wildwomanfundraising.com/12-interview-questions/ When they ask you to talk about yourself, tell a What-How-Wow story. Here's how to talk about your skills in other settings outside of a job: You can tell a "what, how, wow" story. What this means is that you tell What you did, How you did it, and WOW, what the result was that you got. for example, let's say you wanted to show people that you are persistent. You would say, here's an example of my persistence. What I did was, I was working for a nonprofit called the Gentle Muses, that helps harpists give music therapy to people. They wanted more gigs, so I called 100 different senior activity centers. How I did this was I got a list of them and went down the list, and called and asked them if they'd like to have a harpist come in and play for them. And WOW, I got 4 regular gigs for each of the harpists! You can do this for things that you've done in your life, even if you didn't do them for a job. Think of the traits you'd like to be known for, persistence, patience, generosity, etc. If you want a book with more details on exactly how to write your what how wow stories, it's called "Want a New, Better, Fantastic Job" by Peter Paskill. I highly recommend it! and you can find it for cheap too on abebooks. Remember this is a TWO-WAY interview. It's not just about them asking you questions. It's about you asking them questions. You need to make sure that you'd like to work there. It's all about how you're going to interact with the people there. Will this be a good place to work? It's up to you to find out. So be a detective! Here are 6 questions you need to ask to find out if this will be a healthy working environment for you or not: 1. How willing are people to help each other here? 2. Who will I learn from and how? 3. Who is held up as a hero here? What for? 4. What keeps you going when things get stressful? 5. How do you resolve conflict here? 6. How do you celebrate what's working? And how should they answer these questions? http://www.wildwomanfundraising.com/elementary-dear-interview-find-boss-bully/ Here's how to prepare for the interview, in detail. http://www.wildwomanfundraising.com/you-got-the-interview-now-what Was this helpful?
