Do the people who appear on Jerry Springer get paid?

Yes, I had a professor in college that was telling us his friend got paid $1200 to go on that show and lie about something. I'm not sure about you, but 1200 isn't worth the whole country thinking I'm gay, or I married my sister, or I'm in love with my dog. Does anyone remember when Jerry Springer first came on, he actually had serious shows and was like any other daytime talk show host. Now its a circus!
