  1 ) It teaches us about the history of literature and how it differed in that time period 2 ) It introduces us to MANY literary devices and terms like monologues, similies, mataphors, imagery, etc. 3 ) It also contains a lot of different literary archetypes like quest, star-crossed lovers, the shrew, etc. 4 ) It introduces us to the "Romantic Tragedy", one of many different genres of writing I LOVED Romeo and Juliet, by the way : )
