I have no idea (nor does anyone else despite what they might say) what kind of conditions you will be facing. You do not provide enough information as is par for 'Yahoo Answers' questions. Please specify what kind of place you will be "camping". It makes a big difference as there are private campgrounds where one can "camp" in a motor home with electricity and everything you have at home except for the maids (you could probably bring them too in some of the motor homes I have seen). Then there are wilderness camps where you walk several / many miles into the bush and pick a spot. No amenities of any kind. Poop into a hole that you dug with a little shovel. No phone, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury. Please specify your particulars so people don't have to read between the lines to give you some kind of informed answer.

Ticks are bad... do a nightly check EVERYWHERE (I do mean everywhere...this is generally a two person activity to check your back). Also, if you do get a tick, you need tweezers to get it out... ensure you grab it by the head, and get it all out...just grabbing the body can leave the head inside and can in fact make things worse...If you have a tick, take it off and KEEP IT!! and bring it to a doctor. They will check it and check you. -Bugspray is a must, deet MUST be in the ingredients, otherwise it doesnt work enough...Tuck your pants into your socks if you want to be textbook careful...I don't, but I also spray deet all over my pants/shoes and socks. -Tweezers in the event you get a tick, and a plastic bag... not a plastic or big tweezers.. small and sharp (ticks can be VERY small..as small as a freckle) I am assuming you are gooing on the AP trail, so it is pretty well frequented in most areas. Bring more water then you know what to do with... it can be humid in the summer, and FORCE yourself to drink alot; I don't know why, but I hear/see more heat stroke instances on the east coast...I believe it has to do with the humidity. -Iodine water purification tablets a camera. Connecticut. I am not sure the part of the state you are in, but I got in the habbit of wearing a bear bell... I don't think you will be near bears, but you might as well be courteous to the timid coyotes. On that same thought, a 'bear bag' for all your food. Foxes and Coyotes and the thousands of deer in CT can get hungry, and smell food....I woke up with a skunk eating a snickers bar I had left out (it was unopened)...that was entertaining.

Ear plugs...at least to that place. It's right next to I-84. Nothing like camping out 4 exits from Hartford next to a highway...to get away from it all.

BUG SPRAY!!!!! Be very careful about ticks. They can be as small as a pinhead, and they can give you Lyme Disease. Get informed about it BEFORE you go.
