How to start motocross racing?

    Ride 8 hours a day?? I doubt that the pros even get that much seat time. Probably the easiest way is to go to a local dealer that sells motocross bikes and they almost always have information on all of the local tracks. Usually they can give you a flyer, phone number, website or something about any of the local tracks. Once you find a track or tracks see which ones hold open practice, meaning a weekend for just practice, no racing. Start going to open practice to get used to the track and when you feel ready just attend your first race. The folks at the track will tell you what equipment is required and if you need to join the AMA, etc. Good luck!!

the first answer is a lil messed up, riding 8 hours a day is out here, pro's dont spend that much time on a bike a day. Anyway, i am sure u have all the proper gear for riding as u do ride 4 wheelers or quads. So u are set there, you need to be in shape, start with a simple, daily training program bc motocross is ophysically challenging no matter what anyone else says. Practice Practice Practice, practice makes "perfect" right? this rule applies very well with this sport. Remeber practice is for practicing, to get ur lines right and practice jumps and stuff, not to race, how u finish in practice doesnt matter. You can find a practice place by asking around, askin other racers in your town or surrounding, the riders will be sure to point u in the right direction, they know where the best places around are. Believe me, riding a 4 wheeler is NOTHING like riding a dirt bike. You need to start by riding about 8 hours a day and get rougher terrain as you feel comfortable with it.
