TV put out a series of documentaries there are campaigns in the News papers and all of this has not made the slightest difference Rainforest's always are in third world countries and always in third world countries corruption and the need for money s highest the jungle gets smaller by the day more and more farmers move in .and burn the trees it is an impossible situation as long as there is poverty in these regions the destruction will continue

The forests of the world are being cut down to make room for pasture land to raise cattle. When this is done, the cutdown trees are burned , not turned into lumber. This is called Slash and Burn. Lumber and Paper come from managed forests where the trees are replaced with new trees. this is called Reforestation. Due to replantings there are more trees in the US now, than there were in 1900. Not so in the tropical rain forests of SA and Africa. To make adifference buy wooden furniture and quit eating hamburgers from McDonalds.

the true answer is greed. people want to develop everything in sight. i have lived in my current home for ten years and HAD a lot of woods behind me. they are cutting them down to build. as they do this, i see various animals are scrounging to find new cover. they are taking away a big part of nature by impeding upon the wildlife habitat. they are not leaving the animals any place to go. this is supposed to be a world where people and nature can exist together but it seems that man won't be satisfied until all wild animals are in captivity or made into a coat! everything that has value is being sold for profit. all propert, all trees, all to get a buck!

Because we are using them up faster than we can replenish them. Trees are cut down for wood which is necessary for making paper, furniture, houses, etc. Forest fires.... I'm sure there are many more reasons... If everyone recycled, & did their part to not be wasteful, we might be able to slow down the process.
