How good is chat room security nowadays?

After i select a chat room and enter the security numbers and letters in the blue link of, my system crashes.?

  assuming you are using XP... you are working on a laptop with a really really slow processor (mine is 2.6GHz and it is slow.) You also only have 128 MB or RAM which is very low as well (I have 1GB.) And you are using an outdated version of IE. So I'm assuming you don't want to buy a new comuter, So I would start with the easy stuff. *virus/spyware/adware scan *clean caches *defragment drive *get IE 7 *redownload messenger 9 *reinstall messenger 9 *make sure you have a working firewall (not windows firewall) and it is not stopping you. I recommend zone alarm. *make sure you are giving the computer enough time, as your computer is slow and some times security stuff takes a while. *click start>run and type in "msconfig" (without quotes or spaces) and look at the programs that you are running at startup, removie any unnessassary startup stuff, then reboot. *make sure you have that latest version of JAVA, Direct X and Flash as some programs need these to work right *update windows to service pack 2 if you don't slready have it. *you could always email Yahoo about it That is all I can think of at this second that is easy to do.
