What are alternative career options for a cs grad student, preferably close to nature and adventure?

  Natural resource planning, usually a government job but not always.  Fisheries, foerestry, mining, oil and gas. Wildlife management and research. Agricultural economics is another area where you might get outdoors once in a while.  A forward-thinking tea plantation in the hills might provide excellent access for outdoor activities in your spare time, for example. Everyone needs programmers.  Look for areas where Biologists are working, but don't have the training to write the kind of programs they really need.
