Having worked in radio for a number of years myself, I can warn you this is a pretty competitive field to get into. There is also a lot of office politics, long hours, egos (from the announcing staff) and low salaries. To succeed in radio sales, you'll need to handle rejection well and be persistent. With not living in the Florida area myself, I can't advise on local agencies, but would suggest that you skim through your local telephone directory (look up fashion, media and radio and you're sure to find some listings). Employers want ability to do the job and to perform (especially in a sales position ... if you're not selling, you're not bringing in revenue). They like team players, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. As a new sales rep (new to the business and new to the company ...), you should get cut some slack and be allowed at least a few months to learn the ropes. Good luck with it ...
