How can I get motivated to exercise?

I tend to start for a day or so and then stop. Any ideas on how I can keep it up?

For me its easier to either have a workout buddy (so I feel guilty if I don't go, or so that someone else is motivating me by making plans to go on a certain day at a certain time) or to tell someone who has no problem bossing me around and making me feel guilty of my intentions to work out so that when I loose interest and stop going, I get a guilt trip. Team sports were always the best because you had to show up at a certain time everyday or the whole team would be pissed at you. I dunno, I find social pressure from others to be the best motivating factor for me when it comes to working out. Otherwise I just think, well, I had a long day today, so I'll just do it tomorrow.... My Mom sees a personal trainer at her gym for this exact purpose. He calls her and scolds her if she hasn't been in the gym for awhile and she makes appointments with him in between her sad excuses for regular workouts to make sure that she actually goes. I dunno if that's an option for you since trainers can get expensive but it works too :) My old roommate did the same thing but her motivational factor was that her trainer was hot and she had a crush on him. Similarly another friend of ours would go to the gym at a certain time of day to talk to "hot" guys who just got off work. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I am like that too. maybe you could get a friend to go with you to work out. not sure what you do working out wise but find something that you enjoy rather than making it excerise. take a dance class or something....something that you will enjoy will help you stick to it and have something to look forward to. another thing that helps me somewhat stick to a schedule is watching shows like biggest loser and watching those people work out and lose weight.

look at skinny people all day! jk think about how much healthier and how much longer you will live for if you exercised!If you can exercise just long enough to see results you will want to continue exercising to see how much better you can look by exercising! Also, have fun while doing it. like bring a music player or a friend who wants to exercise too.
