How does it feel to get a tattoo and what did you get?
-
How much did it cost and how old were you? My best aunty died and she had a fairy and her husband pained/inked in, now I want her name, but I am petrified of needles.

Best comparison I can give you is tattooing feels rather like a cat scratching a sun burn. It's not really pleasant, but it's not unbearable either. If your getting a tattoo that takes longer to do the area generally becomes numb after some time. I got a portrait of a stalking wolf on my back when I was 16, and a wolf paw that looks like it's been painted on for my 18th birthday. The wolf portrait was $100 even, with $15 tip, and the paw was only $50 (He rolled his eyes and told me happy birthday when giving me the price), with a $10 tip. I wouldn't stress too much, just don't look at the needles, relax, and try to ignore the pain as best as you can. Yes it hurts, you should not be lied to about that, but it's bearable and just think of the end results.

I am not going to lie, it hurts. It's a different kind of hurt though. It's not like child birth or anything haha I have a 5 year old son, oh natural with no meds!!! Anyway, back to the point, it hurts. It's like a constant POKE and it burns. Depending on the spot you get it at, some will hurt more than others. I got my tattoo of my Granny(b&w portrait) in March 2008, on my arm just below my shoulder starts. It turned out to be a good spot because even in my short sleeved shirts you can't see it, good for WORK because my job has a STRICT NO tat policy. I was 23 when I got the tattoo, I turned 24, 2 weeks later. It was $200 from a guy I had heard of from alot of people...DO RESEARCH when you pick your artist so you don't say AHHH later. I gave him a $25 tip (YES tip them especially if they are giving you a good deal, so you can go back next time) and all I can say is I am TERRIFIED and I HATE needles, I can't STAND going to the doctors, but a tattoo is different and I can't wait to go back and get another portrait of my Grandpa on my other arm : ) GOOD LUCK!!!

It depends on where you get the tattoo. Some areas are more sensitive than others. I got one on my upper arm. It took about an hour and a half and cost $125.00. That was in 1992 or 1993. Just make sure the artist uses fresh new needles and you should be alright.

ok heres my tattoos: http://www.bebo.com/PhotoAlbumBig.jsp?MemberId=469597005&PhotoAlbumId=7244093740&PhotoId=7244144520 the dragon took 4 hours costing €80, i got it on my 18th birthday. the phoenix took 20 hours costing €600 i got it 2months ago. getting a tattoo is not as bad as you think it is. to me it feels like a cat scratch lasting a few hours :) some say its like a bad sun burn feel. but i've never had sunburn so i cant relate. and i've seen 3 different people come into the shop i work in saying they are scared of needles, and he came back a month later to get more done. needles aren't to visable and they don't go as deep as you injections you get in a doctors or hospital. good luck

I have five tattoos: a Haida moon with stars and "night sky" around it on my upper left arm, German script on each inner forearm, and a Ford Falcon emblem on my outer left forearm. None of them hurt; it was more like a sting. It's nothing to be afraid of at all. Good luck with it!
