  • Answer:

in canada the education is regulated by provinces, but its divided among boards, which can contain multiple schools and towns, from this the education is tax-funded from kindergarden to grade 12 or "grade 13" in quebec, each province has their own complusery classes and exams and if it makes any sense, most classes are focused on processes being right, not just answers, and one has to explain how they reached their conclusion. also, private schools are abundant and always considered among the best. in the usa education is compulsory and funded federally as well as in each town/state and curriculums and requirements are regulated in each state by the state, such that in a place like texas they do something like one year pre-calc, one year of geometry something like that, while in a state like new york, the math would be mixed each year with a state test at the end of the course, also most schools are divided by districts, which are usually divided by town, which limits the amount of schools one can go to, and depending on taxes one town could have a public school 10 times better than the next town over, but unlike canada, if you decide to go public youre only confined to a public school based on proximity (unless you live in a large city that does schools by application). in the usa many schools focus on standardized tests where the answer matters as opposed to the process unlike canada, but schools just vary more in general. though the largest difference is in university, where in canada universities are applied to by program, most people stay within their province, and residents of provinces get a huge break on tuition but if they cannot afford the tuition then they take a loan (figure something like 2000 for in province, 2700 for out of province canadian, 10000 for international students), while in the usa the states may have some schools that cut back on tuition if their public, but a majority of the universities are private, and it does not take a certain gpa to switch majors.

The American system educates more towards national values, history and knowledge, whereas the Canadian system tries to be more international, although it is lacking in that area compared to many other countries. In America, a standardized test called SAT Reasoning Test is required and heavily relied upon for entry into post-secondary education (university), but in Canada students are considered based on high school grades and other features.

There is greater disparity in the quality of education in the States. This is in terms of public schools, it really depends on where one lives. The school could be an absolute disgrace even to some third world nations, or it could be first-rate, on par with competitive top of the line private institutions. Canada is more level across the board.

In Canada they only have to have bakesales and stuff to pay for feild trips and other extra curicular stuff. In some states they have to do it to pay some of the staff's salary and buy toliet paper and lightbulbs.
