Does anyone have the original Subway stores banning homeschool kids website?

Hey there, is there anyone out there that actually took a snap shot or archived the Subway essay contest website? The one that banned homeschool children from entering. ...show more

Answer:
I actually read that and couldn't beleive it myself. LOL! As for homeschoolers not being allowed to enter I think that is outright discrimination. They could always have an alternate prize for homeschoolers or small homeschool groups. Just because we don't follow the herd we shouldn't be excluded.

Giraffes - homeschool kids could easily donate the equipment to a local school, park, community center, or other venue where hundreds of kids could use it. There are plenty of private schools throughout the US that have less than 20 kids, some only have 8 or 10. Yet they're allowed to enter, simply by the fact that they are enrolled in a private school. Yet homeschool kids (some who come from families that large) are not allowed to compete and give playground equipment to others out of their achievement. The funny thing is, in many states homeschools are actually registered *as* private schools, or are legally considered so. I wonder what Subway and Scholastic would do with that? It's not the fact that it's a contest aimed toward ps kids, it's the rudeness of the wording. The only requirements are that you use their story prompts and that your story have a beginning, middle, and end...and while they will let a 4yo enter (who does not yet understand story structure and is not required to go to school), they will not allow a homeschooler who could really do some good for others enter and have the chance. Sorry, I don't have the screencap, just wanted to help explain. :)

I don't understand why it's not okay to ban home schooled kids? The winner's money is going to their school but the home schooled child will get the money to themselves. It's not fair...
