  Connections Academy and K 12 are Public Schools done at home. It is not Home School. There is a difference between home school and public school at home. . Public School at home still has things like attendance, benchmarking, required classes, teachers, state and federal laws. Usually Public School at home is free. Depending on what state you live in, you will likely be furnished with a printer, and computer to use. You may even receive some money to help pay for your internet connection. Only thing you have to pay for are a small amount of school supplies, and sometimes field trips require a fee.. Field trips are usually under $10.00.. Some schools do 6 optional field trips per month.. If you plan on going to all of them, the cost can add up. Home School may have to deal with amount of classroom hours per year, attendance, but has no teachers, no benchmarks, in some cases no required classes, and no organized curriculm.. There is more free reign. A Home School curriculm from a private vendor starts out around $300 and up. If you can concentrate better by taking a public school option at home.. Go for it! You probably have more options to sleep in later, not have to worry about dressing up, away from bullies, no distractions, and you can go to school in your PJ's or worse.. :) . But if your looking for an easy way out, like play on yahoo till 2 AM and roam the streets during the day.. It doesn't work that way.. It is a challenge, and may not be for everyone. It is an alternative option. If you can work independently, and you think you can do better with an online school.. By all means go for it. Your only ruining yourself and your future by going to a school you hate.
