What is an online homeschool like?

What is your typical homeschool day like?

  • What is your typical homeschool day like, do you follow a typical school schedule, and what state do you live in?`

  • Answer:

I don't follow a typical school schedule. We usually get started after breakfast and the day consists of whatever I'd decided we'll do that day plus a bit of what the kids say they'd like to do. We never do book work, other than reading, in the afternoon. Afternoons are our time for going to the library, running errands, getting together with others, including park days, things like that. I don't live in the US, so no state!

I homeschool 2 of my 3 kids and our day starts at 9 and begins with circle time we review days, months, numbers, ABC, and things like that at 9:15 we start language and do so for around 40 minutes then we have a 5 minute break and pick up on math after around 45 minutes we have art and music and follow with bible study. We try to finish around noon.I have a kindergartner and a pre-k this school year that starts in August will be slightly different because my 1st grader will have a 5 core study.I live in NC and have a blast homeschooling my kids.

well i live in texas...and no we didnt follow a typical school schedule...since i was older i just did the work when i wanted to...my mom would say u have a week to be in this section of school. so i could either take the whole week to get it done or get it done faster...i am going to be honest if you don't do an activity while homeschooling it will be very boring and you won't want to get your work done...i was on a bball team so that encouraged me to get my work done...the bball team i was on was a homeschooled one and there are lots of homeschool bball teams we get to go to a state tournament and go to a national tournament which is in oklahoma...so all i have to say is if you are going to homeschool get involved in some kind of homeschool group.

7 hours 15 minutes, 1 hour for each subject plus 45 minutes for a subject chosen by student. Typical school schedule was followed the first few weeks, but as student entered competitions, schedule was dropped and various subjects held sway the entire day. Flexible schedule allowed student to win writing, science and math awards without effort outside of school. Colorado
