What does it take to be home schooled?

Im home-schooled and im going to school next year do i have to take test is see what grade i will be in?

    Hi Emily! Have your folks call the school you'll be attending. The adminstrator will know the rules for that school district. If you've been using a standard curriculum and finishing the books each year, you should do fine. Hopefully your parents have been keeping good records and counting the extracurricular things you've done as credits. Have you taken music or dance lessons, or learned to scuba dive or snorkel or ride horses? What about learning to sew or knit or cook? (home economics). If you can provide good transcripts of all your grades and activities, you should be in good shape. I believe that a lot of home schoolers don't take the time to keep good records and that's why they have to repeat a grade. Even if you do have to take a test, if you know the material you'll do well. Good luck!

i think it all depends on the school/state. some schools have you take a test to see what level you are at. however, i know someone who was put back 1 grade because they say homeschool only has the main courses and don't have art, gym, and health.

No you will still be in the 8th grade but Im sure you will be far beyond your classmates as the case usually is with homeschoolers. When you realize how far beyond you are it is at that point that I would talk to your parents to talk to the school about accelerated work because you do not want to be held back if you already know what you are doing.
