How can I get my foot back in the door with a less than stellar work history?

    you could try to do some volunteer work related to childcare. as that proves all sorts of things. that you can work well as a team, show initiative. and that you are comitted. .. even if its only a couple of days a week. helped me when i went for my job.. allthough had already done childcare training .. so suppose thats different. but they still said it was good to have :-) good luck!!!!

Do some volunteer work we have schemes in scotland where disadvantage kids "buddy up" with older people ie mid twenties and they go on days out etc. My friend did this to put towards her social work degree. A few months of that and she was offered so much more work.

Well, not to suggest anything unmoral, but its my experience that businesses have been closing up right and left... due to the bad economy... And IF someone HAD work history at one of those businesses that closed and they put THAT business on their application, well, there would really be NO WAY of contacting someone about work history, would there? But, back to your question, idk... but... Good Luck! :D
