Surely, you are going on a program. There will be advisors to give you more information than most of us can. Yes, the power both the voltage and the plug shape are different from that in the US. I assume you are from the US, but it helps if you say so, so that people have a base from which to work. You will need converters and plug adaptors. Adaptors for all your appliances, and converters for those things that need them, CHECK. Cause many appliances, nowadays are dual voltage. IF they say (usually on the cord) that they take 110/125 - 220/240, then they can be used anywhere. Many computers and the like are set up that way. Don't buy videos while there...they won't play at home. You should visit EVERYWHERE!!!! Try to see as much of Spain as you can, and try to get around some of the rest of Europe, as well. You should try to have enough money to travel for the summer. In Spain, the absolute musts include: Madrid (and several towns near there) Quixote country, Sevilla, Granada, a little of the other coasts, you should try to get to the north as well, Donostia, Bilbao, Santander. Salamanca is supposed to be great, Córdoba if you have the time, Santiago de Compustela, etc. You'll make friends. You'll find travel buddies. You'll go around together, and give each other ideas. Pick up a copy of DK Eyewitness Spain (or just Barcelona, but you'll like the larger book). Take a flamenco class. Learn the Sardana (very complicated! Deceptively so!) Cool hangouts and clubs change so frequently, that you'll do best to get that from your friends. If you have any sort of love for Picasso, find the bar called 4 chats. He used to hang out there, and his artwork still adorns their menus. There is soooooo much! It's soooooo individual! Try to get to lots of festivals...Semana Santa and Feria in Sevilla are two that you should try to get to, but they are close together, you might need to choose one. You should do Feria, if so, and Semana Santa in Barcelona...it's best done with locals to guide you. Make sure you have enough media to store your photos, and take TONS!!! AND WRITE ON THEM WHAT THEY ARE!!!! (Captions are so easy on the computer!) Cause anything you don't have a photo of, didn't happen by about ten years. And you wouldn't believe what I had to go through to figure out what some of my unmarked, and lesser known monuments were! Keep a diary/journal, cause anything you didn't write down, will change with the telling. You wouldn't believe how many things have changed when I ask other people to retell the same stories! Oh! And get addresses on ALL your friends, AND KEEP UP WITH THEM!!! It's really hard to track people down after about ten years.
