Your list is a load of b*ll*x. Anyone who has Windows and AV fully up-to-date shouldn't have anything to worry about. Computers *already infected* may start to do something but there won't be any mass infection of computers. While it may start on 1 April it is not guaranteed to end on 2 April, so staying off the net for a day is pointless. What nonsense. I'll be doing all those things and I'll be fine. If you're going to get it, you've already got it. Avoiding using your computer for a day Oh, and let's all bear in mind that in Central European Time, April the 1st is in 2 hours. In Asia, it's been April 1st for seven hours. If this was as massive as so many people think, don't you think there'd have been something on the news in the last seven hours? Here's some real advice: Have you used Windows Update, installed Windows or bought a new computer since October 2008? Yes? Then you're fine. This is a lot of hype about nothing. You don't have the virus, aren't going to get it and will suffer no loss or damage because of it. Just make sure your anti-virus software is up to date (and by up to date, I mean within the last six months on this occasion). The only thing that is concerning people is that the virus MAY activate on April 1st. And even if it does, it's not going to trash your machine. It exploits a vulnerability in Windows that, as I say, was patched last October. The media don't know a damn thing about computers and are just as wrong this time as every other time. If you would really like more information, just read the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conficker People are just flapping about this for no reason. The experts are keen to make out that it's worse than it is, because if they underplayed it and it was damaging they'd look foolish. If they overplay it, they can claim that it was thanks to all their hard (and imagnary) work that it was defused in time.
