  I have seen carp in every part of the lake. deep water, shallow water, open water & standing timber. But not in heavy vegetation. Depends on oxygen levels, water temp and availability of food. They usually stay on or near the bottom but some days you see 'em coming up to the surface, it looks like they're gulping air, I don't know why they do that.
