Do you think that there is a vast difference in West Coast Saltwater fishing and East Coast Saltwater fishing?

Since I've been on this forum, I've seen (and read) a vast difference in rigging, lures, procedures and general tackle differences from Coast to Coast. Why do you think ...show more

Answer:
man i really dont think that there is a difference in the fish that are in the two oceans but i truly believe that there is a difference in the way people fish. it is all the way that people were raised and the way that each person was taught to fish. i have noticed that people in different states do things differently even though they are a state up or a state down. for example. i like to have a pot of grits going when i deep fry fish. ok down here that is about the only way that we eat fish. others just a few states up can not stand grits, dont know what they are or what ever and they fillet the fish and bake or broil or grill the fish. with all the ways that people eat they are still eatin. it is all in how everyone is raised and they way that they were taught to fish. I hope to be able to get away from the east coast one day to see and try different methods of how fishing is done in different parts of the country. the one thing that i hope to do is go to a different country to really find a difference. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

Alot of people are set in their ways so part of it is simply the "go with what you know and anything else is wrong" mentality. but to answer your question maybe they should divide this section into east and west.

I don't know about that Fisher. I'm a transplanted Connecticut Yankee out here in SoCal. I grew up surf fishing in RI and the Sound and brought the skills and rigs I learn there west with me. I watched, listened and learned from the guys (and gals) out here the different baits and such for the various fishes found in the Pacific but alot of the stuff was the same thing only different. Of course I've seen a lot of answers from people who don't know diddly about the subjects.
