Where in Italy to do a good, cheap walking/hiking trip?

I am taking a trip to Italy, where is a good place for cycling?

  • I am going to Rome, Italy in a couple weeks. I am taking my road bike, and have no clue where to ride. Does anybody know good scenic areas to ride in Italy?

  • Answer:

take a ferry boat from Sorrento or Naples (which isn't too far from Rome) to the island of Capri. You can bring your bike on the boat... and the island is big enough to have a pretty cool adventure. It's one of the most scenic places I've ever been.

Ride around Rome. There's lot to see.

If you are going to be based only in Rome then I am not really sure as I have never cycled there. The Marches are great for cycling - http://www.my-italy-piedmont-marche-and-more.com/best-of-le-marche.html. Fairly quite country roads and beautiful countryside. Rent a place in a farmhouse or stay in an agritourism - il Fontanino is great http://www.my-italy-piedmont-marche-and-more.com/le-marche-italy-restaurant-review.html That is what I would do if it was me. in fact I envy you - I would like to have the time to do exactly what you are planning to do.
