How do you get rid of braces pain?
-
I just got braces and I have a lot of pain. Does it wear off? What can I do about it?
-
Answer:
your discomfort will last about 3 days. the discomfort is caused because fluid builds up around the teeth as they are moving. First, take an anti-inflammatory. Always take if before your adjustment and then stay on it for 3 days. Brush your gum tissue with a soft toothbrush. This will bring blood to your teeth and speed the healing. If you orthodontist has them, get a therabite and use if for 3-4 hours right after your adjustment. This will bring blood to the teeth as well. If there is no therabite, try biting on a washcloth. Bite down, release, bite down, release. Of course you will look silly walking around with a wash cloth hanging out of your mouth...thus the therabite. In about three days the discomfort will be gone and you will be back to normal.

I've had braces for about a year now. When I first go them, they hurt like CRAZY! The pain stopped about 4 days later. Heres my coping tequnique..... Advil- RECOMENDED DOSE, dont OD, it wont elp. Oragel- Rub it on CONSTANTLY Soft foods- Applesauce pudding. Dont even try pizza. (OW) It'll wear off in about 3 or 4 days.

braces pain is usually only short term, just keep thinking how wonderful you will look when you have finished with them, a little paracetamol will help with the discomfort, and gentle gum brushing will aid healing

try some ambesol, it numbs the gums for tooth pain so it should work if you have braces. Good luck and just know that when its over you will have a beautiful smile. :)

You can take Tylenol, that's your best bet. I had them before, I have a high tolerance for pain and even so it hurt for about 3 days. Stick to eating softer foods and you'll eventually get used to your braces.
its me
Yes the pain does wear off. Take 600mg of Advil for the pain. If your gums are swollen then swish your mouth with salt and warm water twice a day. I'd stay away from Ambesol because it doesn't last long. If the wires start to rub up against your inner lips, place clear dental wax on the wires for relief.
