Yeah, it doesn't really matter. It's sometimes easier to get work if you have a degree in Graphic Design specifically, but if you studied art and have a good portfolio most employers don't really care. Graphic Design is an exceptionally snobbish occupation as evidenced by the mostly talentless hacks who work in the field. Most corporate design departments will not look at you without a Graphic Design, or Graphic Arts degree.
