Do french people like to use english terms and phrases in french?
-
I think french terms and phrases and seen as 'chic' when used in english, is it the same for english words invading french?
-
Answer:
French use lots of english words like sandwich, chewing gum, parking, etc, and in specific domains like technology, we (I'm french) use many english word, simply because they are simpler than french words (example : "to google", instead of "faire une recherche sur google"), or even sometimes because there is no french equivalent (ex : smartphone)
