What is the best type of Projector to purchase for a home theater?

  I own an Epson EH-TW2900 and use it on a good screen in a less than well controlled lighting environment. They are pretty large units but this reduces fan noise and the lens zoom and shift works amazingly well. They look absolutely great on screen too. Since you are in a pitch black environment your lamp brightness shouldn't be much of an issue at all, unless your basement is particularly big. Anything around 1500 ANSI lumens should be more than adequate. The savings on the projector can be spent on a decent screen. Anything from the EH-TW range from Epson come highly recommended.
