Why doesn't a computer recognise a printer?

  • Answer:

I am running Windows VISTA Also a HP Photosmart D7200 Printer. I found that the printer would not recognise Windows 98 so it was unusable on my other computer. So I had to use it with VISTA. VISTA is not backward compatible as the method of writing files has changed. Example a 56MB Tiff file with Windows 98 is only 50MB with VISTA . It gets even better when you try to load old software that you have used for many years, as it is very picky and choosy.
