Will a Firewire to USB adapter work with connecting my Mini DV camcorder to my computer?

I have a Mini DV camera, and i dont know if a Ilink or Firewire adapter would work ok with hooking my Camera up to my computer and streaming the videos into movie maker

You need to use firewire for capturing video to a computer in an editing program. It will definitely work with miniDV camcorders sine they were the camcorder models on which firewire capture was pioneered. Connecting most camcorders to computer via usb makes it a webcam. You can record live video in the webcam mode, but it will be at a much lower and smaller resolution.
