Answer:
I also am wondering if I can use a blackberry 8120 without activating any provider and just use the wifi to check email and cruise the internet. I also am wondering if skype would work with it over the wifi? I can take a laptop to any mcdonalds now and there internet is free and works with skype as well. It would be nice if the blackerry could do the same thing at any wifi hot spots as I dont need to have a phone when driving down the road 100% of the time. So dont really want to pay for a plan just for email or to chat while I'm driving.
