When will most TV programs be broadcasted in HD?

How does my TV get HD programs if I am using the old coaxial cable I had from my old Com cast digital box?

    There is no such thing as an HD cable. (It's a good idea to use RG-6 rather than RG-5 or RG-59, but the lesser cables may work for short lengths.) HD channels are transmitted compressed, and are decompressed by the cable box and the HDTV. Several frequencies are used along the cable to increase bandwidth, kind of like how radio and TV stations are able to use the same airspace yet have separate channels.
