How to Become a Life Guard?
-
Hi im 13 years old and i am on the swim team does that mean anything for life guarding? how much are the classes? thanks

Answer:
In America for the National YMCA/Red Cross certification you must be at least 16 years old. The classes itself (I took them at a YMCA) were about $150 total. They're probably more if you go somewhere that's not a YMCA. But also keep in mind that you have to re-certify every year too, and those classes cost $50.

You can only become a professional Life Guard (with pay and everything) at the age of 16. If you live in the UK I recommend the ASA Level 1 Life Guard Course and if not then I'm pretty sure there are the equivelance elsewhere. Swim Team is useful because it means you can swim and I'm sure that they'll feel more confident having you than some random but you aren't legally allowed to be work as a Life Guard till 16 - though I'm sure you'd be allowed to help out.
