Is the Toyota Prius a good first Car?

Can I get a good deal on a Toyota Prius car now? What did you pay?

    It should be possible to get a better than normal deal, but you have to do your homework and be ready to walk out the door. You might want to contact several dealers as one may be more willing than others to low ball. I don't know how much I'd trust a warranty from the dealer to be available if you need it. There are usually very stringent conditions and if the dealer uses an underwriter to finance his warranty they are often out of business by the time it's required. The only extended warranty I have any faith in is the Toyota Financial extended warranty. You have until the 36 month / 36,000 mile warranty runs out to purchase it, so you don't have to decide right away. FWIW, I have over 100,000 trouble-free miles on my 2004 Prius.

I would start at invoice and haggle from there. BTW I was a Toyota basher LONG before the whole media crap. They used to make good cars but their quality has slipped greatly in the last few years.
