What do you think about, so called,Modern Art? do you think people really understand it?, or do the say they?

You mean like half a cow, or a pile of bricks, the only thing i can say is have you ever read the fairy story the emperor's new coat, I think that expresses modern art perfectly lol

Modern Art is rubbish and the artyfarty brigade ooh and arr just to look good. I think Turner is terrific.

I agree with you 100%. I think modern art is tripe. Didn't they do an experiment some years ago by showing critics some pictures done by a dog or a monkey or something and told them they were done by a famous modern artist. All the critics said 'hmmm yes you can really feel his pain' and 'yes, the emotion really comes through' or some such twaddle. Just goes to show! I cannot see how modern artists can claim to have the talent of say a Holbein or a Caravaggio. True geniuses in my opinion.

i can't stand it ot understand it. it's a case of 'the emperors new clothes' to me. all these so called artistic snobs say it is the height of art, and all the wannabees agree with it. i remember someone getting an elephant to 'paint' pictures with it's trunk. not exactly pictures, just paint daubed willy nilly on a canvass. they then hung them in an art gallery and all these 'arty' people went round looking at them, saying things like' i love the use of colour' and 'the brush strokes are amazing' and raved about this so called new 'abstract artist', (the elephant), boy, did they look idiots when they were told that the piece of 'art' they were about to pay £50,000 for, was painted by an elephant!

I totally agree, I don't get it at all and I usually think that people are just making it all up in their "interpretation" "This block of red paint splashed with purple is sooooo moving. It really speaks to the artist's pain and emotional longing...." ok whatever.

Yes it seem these "artist's" have a bet each year to see who produce the most stupid lump of crap and convince the middle classes that it is art. If it take no talent or effort to produce then it is not art, i could produce any of those thing they make but i have pride

Modern Art to me is jus modern art, it is art now. It hasnt really got a name because its now if you get what i mean. I think its just a mix of sureallism and expressionaism and stuff its whatever pops into your head, its symbolic. Its not meant to mean anything except from what it makes you feel. I agree not all of it is amazing like the older work but if it has the power to move people through emotion and thought they must be great
