Why is genetic diversity important to the survival of a species?

Why isn't there much diversity in human like species?

  • Why isn't there much diversity in human like species? What happened to all the other hominids?

  • Answer:

are you kidding?? There are lots of diversity! Skin color, hair color, eye shape, lip size, height, type of dwelling, diet... so you are maybe thinking sub species? umm..i think it would be impossible for more than one type of human to co-exist on this planet. Although if you spend enough time in New York City you might beg to differ!

I think it's part of natural order - the weaker species of hominids started dying out when the stronger ones started to evolve further and further - making the traits of the weaker ones eventaually become practically worthless, or at least less neccessary in nature, since the stronger species could make up for what would be lacking if the weaker ones were gone. That's kind of rambling, sorry!
