  I'm planning to go into this field myself. I've started the pre-requisites. Check out ASHA.org. or just type in a search on speech pathology. You are bound to find lots of info about how to get started and what is needed. I'm a girl--I also find that this field is predominantly female. It was a concern for me because I would like to have a mix of collegues. There are some men in the field. Maybe it is similar to the nursing profession that traditionally attracts more women. I wouldn't let that deter you though. Good luck!
