    I just graduated from UCSB with a BA in Business Econ last month. I only knew a few regular econ majors during my time at UCSB. Even though you are choosing to major in reg. econ, many companies will still consider it to be a degree relating to the business discipline. In the public sector, a degree in econ is highly regarded for certain government jobs. For instance, there is always a need for a economic analyst for cities, counties, state, and federal. In general, So. Cal. and the bay area have the most amount of job opportunities in California due to the sheer number of companies in the two regions. Personally speaking, I am working in So. Cal. myself. The type of jobs that an Econ major can be considered for is great in number and variety. From financial to analysis, from auditing/accounting to investing. Since economics is the core of the business realm, it is a really powerful degree to have. A econ degree is considerably broad in what you can do with it. I believe a degree in econ is extremely practical in nature. At UCSB, I believe the main difference between business econ and reg econ is that reg econ is much more math based. During my time there, I had many overlapping classes with reg. econ majors. Good luck in your endeavors, my fellow Gaucho!

Have no fear. The course you are having is so flexible. You can work in banks, work as an analyst for some corporations, you can also teach, or even establish your own business. You have nothing to worry about. Economics is a powerful subject matter, even if it isn't glamorous. You can get just about any job that is advertised as preferring "Business" degrees. I know...I have a B.S. in Business. If you enjoy the study of Economics...then don't look back. Study what interests you. If money /career was not an issue, what would you study? The answer to that is where you should start.

You could probably get an entry-level position in many businesses. But to really enhance your employment prospects, you'll need to go to graduate school. Work for a couple of years, then go back for an MBA. This will get you on the management track and really open up your employment prospects.
