How to wire 2 dvc subs to mono amp?

How to wire 4 dvc subs into a 2 ohm load on a mono amp?

  • Answer:

When you have 2 resistors of the same value in parallel, the total resistance is 1/2 of one ot them. If your DVC speaker has 2 4 ohm voice coils, just wire them parallel to each other for a 2 ohm total. If you have 4 DVC subs, that will make 8 voice coils to work with. The formula for impedance will get a lot more complicated. For resistance total in series, the resistor simply add up. You can combine series and parallel many ways to come up with different totals. So look at what each voice coil impedance and get soem paper and work out the algebra: Parallel resistance total is calculated by this formula" one over the sum of one over each resistance. Ugh. I don't know any of your resistances. If the voice coils are 4 ohms each, wire each speaker to equal 2 ohms, then pair two of them in series and pair the other two in series. Wire that pair which now has 4 ohms total, in parallel with the other pair that you configured the same way to come up with a total series/parallel circuit of just 2 ohms in all.
