Yahoo! Messenger is a free instant- messaging application that allows you to chat with friends and family all over the world. Yahoo! Messenger offers other features such as voice chat, email, file transfer, sport scores and news. Yahoo! displays advertisements, banners and emoticons while you are chatting or using any of its free services. Advertisements can interfere with your chatting experiences. It is possible, however, to remove the ads from your Yahoo! Messenger chats. Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions 1. Close any open programs and restart your PC. Log on as the administrator, if necessary. Select the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner. Type "Regedit" in the search bar and hit "Enter" on your keyboard. Click "Yes" and the Registry Editor will open. 2. Select and expand the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" registry key folder on the left-side pane. Expand the "Software" folder; expand the "Yahoo" folder and lastly the "Pager" folder. 3. Select the "Locale" folder. Choose the "Enable Messenger Ad" in the pane on the right-hand side of the Registry Editor. Change the value to "0" and click "OK." 4. Restart your computer and log into Yahoo! Messenger.
