How to pack efficiently?

How does one pack efficiently for a two week trip?

• When I travel, I often tend to over pack. What do you pack for a two week trip (From Dallas to Guadalajara Mexico)?

  I tend to over pack too but since the airlines changed the rules about luggage and started charging, I learned how to condense. I have been to Italy for long periods of time so I understand how hard it is to pack. For two weeks I would suggest bringing 8 outfits. Two out of the 14 days you will be traveling to and from so you won't really need much for those two days. For the last four days mix and match from previous outfits. The good news is since it is summer you'll probably be bringing a lot of shorts and capri pants which don't weigh as much as pants and don't take us as much room. For shoes, I would say four pairs max. You'll most likely bring flip flops/ sandals which don't weigh too much, and maybe a pair of fancy shoes or gym shoes if you need them. Wherever you're staying I am sure you'll have access to a washing machine so you can even do a load if you need more clothes. Remember, the weight limit for a luggage is 50lbs (last time I traveled) and your going to want room for souvenirs and things you buy out there. If your are a big shopper like me, going there I would suggest having you luggage weigh no more that about 30lbs. When I went on my trip, I actually packed an empty duffel bag in my luggage which I later used as a carry on coming home for anything that could not fit (mostly the new things that I bought). When I went to Italy my family suggested bringing water since in a foreign country water tastes different. I did pack a few bottles of water in my luggage and wrapped them in a zip-block bag just in case they opened. Since you're going to Mexico you also might want to bring a few bottles there so you won't have to buy water as soon as you get there. I hear the water in Mexico is not always safe to drink and you need to buy bottled water. Just remember to reduce and reuse. If you think you can do without something don't bring it and if you can mix and match, do it. HAVE FUN!! :)
