  I do not know what you were tackling in class but I will try to help. What I do when I do not know how to get started, I try answering the prompt. Defend Plato's republic... It will also help by writing the points your professor keeps on saying in class (like he says, this is important, then make a paragraph about that "this"). It is a good idea to do some freewriting first than to not have written anything at all just because you cannot make your thesis statement. After you have gathered your thoughts. Organize them.
