Can I buy a ticket for a train?

TFL- Can i buy a train ticket on the same day i depart?

  • I want to buy a train ticket from Sevenoaks to Travel card zone 3 (im not telling you where) But can i buy the ticket on the same day?

  • Answer:

Yes this is too short a journey to save money by buying the ticket in advance. However, if you're going to be doing this journey or going to use the train regularly, a railcard will give you a discount. www.railcard.co.uk

Simple answer, yes. Journeys of as short a duration generally don't have a discount for advance purchase But you do need to look at your route, if you can avoid traveling within zones 1 & 2 it will be cheaper, but possibly take longer.

Hi You can definitely do this. I travel between London and Sevenoaks frequently. Matt's answer is good. If you certainly just want to go between Zone 3 and Sevenoaks, you can do that too. It will be cheaper than getting a train to Charing Cross. However, to buy a ticket to a zone boundary, you need to do that at a ticket window instead of a machine. Or just buy a ticket to a station in Zone 3.

Yes, but it will probably be more expensive, as train tickets increase the closer to the date of departure... the first seats sold are the cheapest, and the last ones are the most expensive.
