Has anyone been on the Carnival Splendor?

First cruise ever!!Has anyone been on Splendor Carnival cruise!!?

  • We are planning our first cruise and i was wondering if anyone has been on the 7-day mexican riviera on Splendor with Carnival...what did you do while you were on board?

  • Answer:

Pretty much whatever you want to do. Whether its sleeping late, laying out by the pool, take a nap on one of the top decks. More than half the days, you'll be in a port, so that gives you the option to go out and explore. I was in Puerto Vallarta in August and my wife and I did this luxury sailing for around $40 pp and it was well worth it. While we weren't on the cruise, the Splendor was in port and we did have a couple of people from the cruise with us. But there was only about 12 people on this 30 ft sail boat. It is well worth it. You sail up north where you can go swimming, or if you want, the 2 man crew will teach you how to snorkel. The food was really good. We had suishi and they had this sweet salsa and the guacamole was really good and I'm not a big fan of guacamole. We got pics of a school of dolphins swimming alongside the boat. I highly recommend the excursion. On a cruise, you can do as much or as least as you want to do.

First cruise can either be great or the only one you will ever take. 1st- You will be able to board between 12 noon and 5 or 6 pm. ( look at your ticket info) do not try to board at 12. take a taxi or have a friend take you so you get to ship at 3 to 4 pm. All of the madding crowds will be already aboard and you will sail through the formalities. (15 minutes) 2nd When departing at end of cruise. (if you can, depends on air travel etc.) Stay in bed late go for a late breakfast, wander around the ship, read a book. When they finally start calling you for the final and I mean final time,(approx 930-10am) go thro customs and then disembark. the crowds will be gone and life is good. Those are my worst 2 times while on a cruise, this schedual works for me. I've done 14 cruises and 11 were fantastic. 1 had poor food, perhaps poor is to strong a word, not as good as other cruises. Two cruises had less than great service. Both of those cruises had North Americans working in the dining room (waiters, buss boys etc) they wanted to stand around and high five each other rather than give service. They also didn't get any tips. I also had a chat with the head waiter on the second to last day of the cruise and told him why no one was getting a tip. It's his job to make sure they are all doing their jobs. Excursions- the cruise line tries to ensure they live up to their hype. If they don't, tell the purser! If enough people complain about an excursion they will reemburse you money and drop the excursion from their recomendations. You can go ashore and book some excursions, but if they are late getting back to the ship(bus engine breaks down or????) the ship MAY leave without you. If you are on an excursion booked throgh the cruise line they MUST wait for you. Usually if you have a little common sence you will have agreat time. I love cruiseing and want to go on many more. Have fun

You will not be disappointed. Carnival is definitely a good cruise line. You can find out a lot on http://www.cruisecritic.com/ When on board, be sure to order the Chocolate Melting Cake some night.

If you love crowds, having to push your way through to get where you want to go, like gambling and mediocre food, you may like Carnival. We did not.
