That is correct, if you can't pay to have some one plant thousands of trees for you than you will suffer. The funny thing is that you are hoping that these trees are planted with no way of knowing for sure that it is happening. Also, considering the United States is the only one that wants to drastically reduce it's green house gas emissions while China, India, Brazil, and Russia continues to expand their green house emissions, the end result is higher CO2 emissions.

Why should anyone have to change his lifestyle to satisfy the State? Most of us oppose Prop. 8, right? Why? Because it's the State imposing lifestyle changes on individuals. Carbon taxes are no different.

It's an additional cost which will affect mainly the lower and middle classes. They're the ones who will have to adjust their way of life the most. Just another tax-grab that will circulate money to the wrong places.
