Do you think Goodwill pickup would work?

  • Answer:

Goodwill is a for profit company owned by 5 people. The only people they "create" jobs for are the poor saps they hire at a horribly low wage, the rest of the profit goes into their pockets. If you ever go out back of a goodwill, you will see their dumpster full of stuff they couldn't sell at the inflated prices they ask for. If they would sell cups (that they get for free) at 25c instead of 99c, they could probably sell many more, but wouldn't make such a profit margin. If you have something to donate, donate it to a real non-profit group that actually helps people other than themselves.

It's a possibility. With the economy tanking, a lot of people are shopping at thrift stores. You might also check with Salvation Army, or St. Vincent de Paul to see if they have pickup service. Another thought is to go to Freecycle.org, which is a cooperative arrangement between internet users to recycle useable goods. I've gotten some very good things from them, as well as giving away a lot of things I don't need. Good luck!
