How can I get a better sound out of my alto sax?

Hey! Same thing happened when I had my clarinet. Try these techniques: - Instead of saliva try water, this helped me A LOT - Reed: I recommend is 2 / 2.5 if 2 is not available (remember as the number increases it becomes more hard to play. And 1 might be to soft and might be easily damage). Also it might if the reed is chipped or damage replace it and rotate around 3 or more reeds. - Ombosure: Place your bottom lip covering your mouth at the end of your inner lip. You can do this by making your mouth in a serious mouth (not like pouting or smiling but ur usual/serious mouth posture) then pinch your mouth (not pulling it but just a pinch)use ur tongue to touch the end of your inner bottom lip, that is where ur teeth goes when your covering it. Place you upper teeth about 3 cm far from the tip when you place ur mouth in the instument. - Posture: Sit/stand straight, if sitting fet flat on the floor. - Keys: Be sure all keys are fully covered. Be sure your not bumping any keys. - If these wont work try letting someone examiine if the instument has been damage or has bent keys) Otherwise you just have too get use to it.
