How is passover celebrated?

Could someone please give me a quick overview of how Passover is celebrated?

  • I need this for a project and can't seem to find how it is celebrated, only why it is celebrated. Thanks in advance!

You realy should read your basic homework source material. At the very least - do a quick google. Still - here you go - Why Passover -- We were slaves in Egypt and God took us out with a mighty hand, and with miracles, and made us a nation, and gave us the Torah (the Jewish legal-religious system). Passover is thus Jewish-independence-day How Passover -- Passover is a seven day festival (eight if the person is outside Israel) The first and last day (first two and last two outside Israel) are full festivals when all Melakha (um ..."creative work") is forbidden except the preparation of food. Before Passover, all Hametz (leavenable products of 5 specific grains) is eliminated -- and must not be eaten or even owned for the whole duration of Passover. In the time when Jews have access to make sacrifices on the Temple mount in Jerusalem, the Passover sacrifice and a second animal are brought on the afternoon before. These sacrifices are eaten, together with unleavened bread and "bitter herbs" in a feast in the evening (the start of the first day). When there is no access to the sacrificial places, the festival meal is eaten with unleavened bread and "bitter herbs" and two "marker" foods are placed in the middle of the table to remember the sacrifices. The other fundamental feature of this festival meal is to tell the children the story of the redemption from Egypt. NOTE: Outside Israel - the festival meal is performed on the first two nights. NOTE2: "bitter herb" is not a generic thing -- it actualy refers to 5 specific vegetables. The most commonly used are horseradish or romaine lettuce. NOTE3: There are a couple of other minor ritual foods.
