The lesson cost $26 per 1/2 hour for private lessons. is this any good? If not, what is?

Seriously, it depends on the experience of the teacher, the going rate in your area and whether or not the teacher is working for a school that takes a cut. The registration fee probably goes to the store, not the teacher. There is no cut and dried answer. Around here, experienced teachers with master's degrees charge $30-35 for a half hour lesson. If you go through the local conservatory it's more. You can get lessons from an advanced high school student for much less, but you won't learn nearly as much. College music majors might charge $35-40/hour. There are stores here who hire a couple of people and expect them to teach all instruments, whether those persons knows how to play that particular instrument or not. They charge around $25-30 for a half hour.

It depends on where you are. In some areas, that would probably be cheap. There's really not much else we can tell you. I think the registration fee should be eliminated. It doesn't cost the teacher very much to enter your name in a book. Ask if you can talk to some of the students of this teacher.

I think that sounds pretty good. I take bassoon lessoons and mine are $30 for 45 minutes and I feel like thats pretty fair.

THAT'S NOT VERY GOOD, I GOTO SINGING LESSONS AND IT'S ONLY 17$ PER HALF HOUR, AND I DON'T THINK PIANO IS DIFFRENT...
