    Both string players, in their answers above, of 'an octave + a fifth', are being treated very unfairly in 'thumbings' here. The reason, unstated, that they recommend an octave plus a fifth is that they're instinctively lifting the range between the instruments by an octave to get the 'tessitura' right, and by a fifth, to move the 'cello's fundamental string from a 'C' to a 'G' which is the violin's fundamental and its most powerfully expressive device. Thus, their recommendation results in a like for like in every respect. It's galling to see considered answers being trashed while being 'right' in their own definitive terms. If quibble we must, then perhaps the octave is a litltle scrooge-like, given the divergence of range and 'speaking' capabilities of each instrument, but that's what we have transcribers for... :-) All the best,

generally you would raise the cello music up an octave and a 5th. You would then make the key signature a 5th higher than the original piece.

It's simple really. The most practical solution would be to learn to read bass and tenor clef to the point where you could sightread them (which you should know how to do anyways) and then figure out the most practical tessitura (or general range) for playing those notes on the violin, and figuring where they would most easily fit on the violin's treble staff.

The easiest way is probably just to transpose it up an octave. The notes for the cello part are all on the bass clef, so you could move it up one or perhaps 2 octaves. Just play the same notes (but higher). This is not a piece of classical music, so this isn't really the place to ask about this music.
