It depends on the area (geography) you work in and what competition there is for employees with those skills. It also varies based on whether or not it is full time with benefits or part time work. Generally clerical work is paid better at bigger companies. Among the jobs you listed, administrative assistant and legal secretary require the most skills and can be the highest paid, and require the most education. I would not enroll in one of those programs you see advertised on TV for medical office assistant. Those are not a good value for your money. Contact the community college in your area and see if they have career development courses you could take. If you go through community college, the tuition is often less expensive, and you may be able to get financial aid to help pay the costs.
