What is it like to be a pastry chef?

What is a good college for being a pastry chef/dessert chef?

  • i want to be a pastry/dessert chef but i dont know what college i want to go to!

  • Answer:

I'm in the same situation. My family wants me to get a bachelors (4 year) degree if I'm gonna be a pastry chef so these are my only options: The Culinary Insitute of America is considered the "Harvard of Culinary Schools", so its really good, and if you want the BEST education, go there. Johnson & Wales also offers programs for pastry chefs, but it also offers programs in business and other areas so its not a completely culinary college. Has more of a "college experience" and college town, but is less repected than the cia ^ If you don't need/want a bachelors program: Either of those schools offer associates (2 year) programs in pastry arts. -New England Culinary Institute offers an associates program or certificate i think -Le Cordon Bleu, French Culinary Institute, and The Art Institutes all offer diplomas/certificates for less than a year and i believe they mightt MIGHT offer associates. Check them out! Good luck :)
